Cats Available for Adoption
Currently, all of our available animals are listed on Petfinder. Please click the link to see a list of our adoptable cats.
Many of our available cats and kittens are in the Adoption Center at PetSmart in Vestal. Life Long Tails volunteers are currently available to show cats on Thursday and Friday evenings, as well as all day Saturday and Sunday.
Pets that are not at the Adoption Center are currently in foster homes with members of our rescue and once an application has been approved, can be seen by appointment.
How to Apply
If you are interested in one of our cats and would like to complete an application, it is available for download. You may also request one via email from Cindy, or pick up a paper copy at PetSmart in the Adoption Center. If a Life Long Tails representative is not available, please ask a PetSmart associate for assistance.
Completed applications can be submitted via email, or delivered to the PetSmart Adoption Center.
Your New Pet
Once your application is received, a representative of Life Long Tails will contact your veterinarian, personal reference, and landlord to verify the information you provided and ensure that we are sending the animal to a safe, happy, healthy environment.
We always strive to locate the best match between our animals and their potential new homes. This means that unfortunately, even if your application is approved, you may not be able to take home the cat of your choice. You will, however, be offered the opportunity to adopt another one of our cats.
The adoption fee is $85 for 8 weeks to 9 years, $50 for 10 years and up, $150 for purebreeds. There is a discount for adopting more then one cat. Included in this fee: spay/neuter, distemper and rabies vaccination, FIV/FeLV test, and worm and flea treatment. Very soon all of our cats will also be microchipped.
Rehoming Your Pet
Due to space limitations in our foster homes, we have no immediate openings for owner surrendered cats. If you email Cindy, we can add you to our waiting list. It typically takes 2-4 weeks for us to intake a cat. Please download and complete our intake form to bring with you when surrender your cat. Also, please consider posting an ad in the pets sections of your local Craigslist, or on Petfinder.
